Desert Modern: Patrick Dragonette’s Design Renaissance on El Paseo

After nearly 24 years immersed in the design world of Los Angeles, interior designer Patrick Dragonette knew it was time for a new chapter. Six years ago, he and his longtime partner, Charles, relocated their acclaimed showroom, Dragonette Limited, to El Paseo in Palm Desert—a move that would redefine both their business and their lifestyle.

What followed has been a creative renaissance rooted in desert light, thoughtful curation, and a renewed connection to the art of living well.

A Showroom That Feels Like Home

Located along Palm Desert’s premier shopping and cultural corridor, Dragonette Limited occupies a refined 5,000-square-foot space that feels more like a beautifully designed private residence than a traditional retail showroom.

It has also earned a reputation as one of the most elegant and sophisticated destinations for art and vintage furnishings in the Coachella Valley—alongside fellow standout destination, The Shops at 1345.

Each room unfolds with intention, showcasing:

  • Museum-quality midcentury furniture

  • Select contemporary collections

  • Fine china and crystal

  • Curated home accessories

  • Original and collectible artwork

Every piece is personally selected by Dragonette.

“Anything and everything in the showroom, I would put in my own home,” he says. “If I wouldn’t live with it, it doesn’t belong here.”

That guiding principle gives the space its distinctive character—timeless, layered, and quietly luxurious.

From Hollywood Homes to Desert Living

Before arriving in the Coachella Valley, Dragonette built a respected career designing high-end residences and commercial spaces throughout Los Angeles and beyond. His interiors became known for balancing sophistication with comfort—spaces that were as livable as they were beautiful.

As his clientele expanded nationally and internationally, Dragonette Limited became a trusted destination for collectors, designers, and discerning homeowners.

By the late 2010s, however, Dragonette and Charles began rethinking their priorities.

“We loved L.A.,” he says, “but we wanted more balance. More connection to our work and to how we live.”

Palm Desert provided that balance—along with a strong appreciation for design rooted in craftsmanship and longevity. Today, the couple lives at Marrakesh Country Club, a setting whose architectural pedigree and midcentury heritage perfectly reflect Dragonette’s aesthetic sensibility.

A Curator’s Eye and a Collector’s Passion

More than a retailer, Dragonette sees himself as a curator and storyteller. Every item in the showroom has a narrative—whether sourced from European dealers, private collections, master artisans, or long-standing manufacturing partners.

“I’m always searching,” he says. “Traveling, visiting workshops, meeting collectors. The hunt keeps me inspired.”

That passion also shapes his approach to clients. Known for his candor and confidence, Dragonette occasionally shows a little attitude—something longtime patrons say simply comes with the territory of working with a designer who knows his craft and stands firmly behind his vision.

It’s part of what makes the experience authentic.

“Design isn’t about imposing a look,” Dragonette explains. “It’s about listening and understanding how someone lives.”

A Design Destination on El Paseo

Since opening in Palm Desert, Dragonette Limited has become a must-visit destination for design enthusiasts throughout Southern California. Snowbirds, second-home owners, architects, and collectors regularly make it a stop on El Paseo.

Visitors can experience Dragonette’s distinctive aesthetic year-round at the El Paseo showroom, and also at the Modernism Show during Modernism Week, where he is a regular and highly anticipated exhibitor.

The showroom’s reputation rests on three pillars:

  • Exceptional quality

  • Thoughtful curation

  • Personalized service

The move has also strengthened Dragonette’s ties to the local creative community, through collaborations, design events, and support of regional arts initiatives.

“There’s a generosity here,” he says. “People really support each other.”

Always Evolving

One of the hallmarks of Dragonette Limited is its constant evolution. Displays are refreshed frequently. New collections rotate in. Custom furnishings and bespoke services continue to expand.

“I never want it to feel static,” Dragonette says. “Design should feel alive.”

For visitors, that means every visit offers something new to discover—whether it’s a rare vintage piece, a contemporary statement chair, or an unexpected decorative accent.

A Desert Design Legacy

Today, Patrick Dragonette’s Palm Desert showroom stands as a testament to what happens when experience, environment, and authenticity align.

Rooted in decades of expertise and energized by desert light and space, Dragonette Limited reflects a philosophy centered on craftsmanship, individuality, and enduring beauty.

“It’s about creating spaces and collections that last,” he says. “That’s always been the goal.”

For design lovers seeking inspiration, quality, and personal connection, Dragonette Limited continues to define desert luxury—one carefully curated room at a time.
