The desert heat meets the heat of innovation as the 31st Annual Palm Springs International ShortFest returns June 24–30, 2025, with a dazzling lineup of 311 short films from 64 countries and territories, including 45 world premieres. Hosted by the Palm Springs International Film Society, ShortFest remains one of the largest and most influential showcases of short-form cinema in North America—an Academy Award®, BAFTA, and Goya-qualifying festival that continues to set the gold standard for the art of the short.
This year’s festival once again embraces the spirit of bold storytelling and global voices, offering a vibrant platform for emerging filmmakers, seasoned industry pros, and movie lovers alike. From side-splitting comedies and provocative documentaries to genre-bending animations and global dramas, the films screening this year reflect a world in motion—diverse, daring, and deeply human.

“Brimming with inspired storytellers and experimentation, this year’s ShortFest once again promises short films which push boundaries, spark conversations, and entertain audiences,” said Artistic Director Lili Rodriguez. “As we mark our 31st year, we embrace the fresh voices shaping the future of this industry. The short form continues to elevate the medium of moviemaking to new heights. We’re thrilled to bring these stories to our passionate Palm Springs community and to welcome filmmakers from across the world to the Coachella Valley.”
