The American Express Golf Tournament Tees Off in La Quinta

In its 65th edition, The American Express Golf Tournament returns to the picturesque desert landscape of La Quinta, promising a week filled with golfing excellence and star-studded entertainment. Set against the backdrop of three renowned Coachella Valley courses – the Pete Dye Stadium Course, the Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West, and La Quinta Country Club – the tournament brings together some of the finest PGA Tour stars.

The tournament use to be called the Bob Hope and has always been a favorite stop on the tour.

The roster for this year’s tournament reads like a who’s who of the golfing world. With three of the top five players in the Official World Golf Rankings and eight of the top 23, including world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, No. 5 Patrick Cantlay, and No. 6 Xander Schauffele, the competition is bound to be fierce. The field also features top talents like Tom Kim, Jason Day, Tony Finau, Sam Burns, and the charismatic Rickie Fowler. Past major champions Justin Thomas and Shane Lowry add an extra layer of prestige to the event.

Among the returning champions are seasoned players who have tasted victory at The American Express, including Charley Hoffman, Jason Dufner, Adam Long, Andrew Landry, Si Woo Kim, and the two-time winner Bill Haas. Their presence adds a touch of history to the tournament, reminding spectators of the rich legacy that The American Express has cultivated over the years.

The official tournament action kicks off on Thursday, January 18, and concludes on Sunday, January 21, promising four days of intense competition. Gates open at 7:30 a.m., with the first tee times starting at 8:30 a.m. As the sun sets, the festivities continue with two post-round concerts. Friday‘s concert features the multi-Grammy winner and country star Keith Urban, while Saturday‘s showcase welcomes the multi-Grammy winner and pop-rock sensation Train. The concert stage, set against the stunning backdrop of the driving range at PGA West, comes alive at approximately 5:30 p.m.
