I have been a fan and guest of several Thompson properties including New York, Playa Del Carmen and recently in Hollywood. To say the least I was super thrilled to finally see it;s newest property in Palm Springs.

After years of anticipation, Thompson Palm Springs has finally opened its doors along Palm Canyon Drive, marking a new era for downtown Palm Springs. This chic, modern retreat promises to be the go-to destination for locals and travelers seeking style, culture, and culinary indulgence. Originally a long-stalled project, the hotel was brought to life when Hyatt stepped in several years ago, and now the Thompson brand, in collaboration with Dallas-based HALL Group, has created a masterpiece that fuses Palm Springs’ mid-century modern allure with contemporary luxury.

Occupying two-and-a-half city blocks, Thompson Palm Springs offers 168 bungalow-style rooms, each with its own private balcony and breathtaking views. In 2024, the property will debut its exclusive Upper Stories tower, an adults-only enclave with 42 guest rooms, five suites, a private pool, and a secluded lounge.

I must say the rooftop pool is gorgeous and the view at dusk of the San Jacinto Mountains was breathtaking .

The hotel’s lounge, bar and restaurant were buzzing when we visited this past Friday night. The vibrant energy flowed throughout and into Lola Rose Grand Mezze, the hotel’s Levantine-inspired eatery helmed by Executive Chef Quentin Garcia. Overlooking the stunning San Jacinto Mountains, Lola Rose serves as a culinary destination with its mezze-style dining and Mediterranean influence, offering dishes from brunch to late-night bites.

Beyond the food, Thompson Palm Springs immerses guests in the arts and culture of the region. The hotel’s impressive art collection, curated by Shore Art Advisory, showcases works from local and international artists, adding creative flair to the guest experience. A standout piece is Jeffrey Gibson’s striking mosaic, The Land is Speaking… Are You Listening, adorning the hotel’s façade, making a statement about the connection to nature and Indigenous heritage.

Thompson Palm Springs is more than just a hotel; it looks to be a gathering hub for the city’s social scene. With over 20,000 square feet of event space, including a grand ballroom and rooftop terrace, it’s the perfect setting for everything from intimate weddings to large-scale celebrations. And with more developments on the horizon, including a HALL Napa Valley Tasting Room and Bar Issi, the Thompson Palm Springs promises to be a dynamic cultural and social epicenter for years to come.

Located just minutes from Palm Springs International Airport, The Thompson Palm Springs is perfectly situated near attractions like the Palm Springs Art Museum, The Aerial Tramway, art galleries, shops and popular restaurants. Rates start at $550 per night, making this sleek new destination an ideal spot for visitors looking to indulge in the best Palm Springs has to offer.
