This landmark edition not only commemorates three decades of showcasing groundbreaking short films but also continues its tradition of merging vibrant art with the beauty of the Coachella Valley.
A Fusion of Art and Film: Shag’s Signature Style
This year’s festival poster, a vibrant masterpiece by renowned American artist and Palm Springs resident, Shag, has been unveiled to much anticipation. Known for his retro-style artwork that breathes life into commercial illustrations with a contemporary twist, Shag’s creation for the ShortFest is a celebration of both the festival’s rich history and the unique charm of the Coachella Valley.
“Inspired by our city and setting of Palm Springs, I wanted to express both the emotion of living in Southern California, as well as the perspective of location shoots taking place across the Coachella Valley,” Shag commented. His artwork not only reflects the festive atmosphere of the ShortFest but also encapsulates the essence of summer in this picturesque locale.
The 2024 poster is set to become a sought-after collectible, available for purchase on the Festival website, at the Shag Store, and Destination PSP. During the ShortFest, attendees can also grab this artistic gem at the Destination PSP pop-up store in the Regal Palm Springs lobby.

A Festival Like No Other
Recognized by prestigious organizations such as AMPAS, BAFTA, BIFA, and the Goya Awards, the Palm Springs International ShortFest is one of the most celebrated short film showcases globally. This year’s event will be held at the Regal Palm Springs, with a robust lineup that includes screenings, panels, and classes featuring industry experts, filmmakers, and other notable guests.
The ShortFest Awards, featuring cash prizes totaling $25,000 and including five Academy Award-qualifying awards, will be announced on Sunday, June 23. For those who can’t get enough of the cinematic feast, the Best of the Fest shorts will screen on the final day, June 24, with a virtual encore from July 10-14.
