Nine Years Strong: Janssen Artspace Celebrates in Style

This weekend the Janssen Artspace in Palm Springs celebrated its ninth anniversary with an energy that carried well beyond the walls. The gallery pulsed with life, filled to capacity with artists, collectors, and admirers, all feeding an unmistakable buzz. It felt less like a formal opening and more like a true community moment.

It was a great turnout, with many of Steven Janssen’s artists showing up to celebrate, filling the space with a sense of camaraderie that’s become the gallery’s signature.

At the center of it all was Janssen himself, moving easily through the crowd, equal parts host, curator, and artist. The scene around him was exactly what he set out to create years ago: a space where emerging talent shares the spotlight and the vibe stays approachable, not intimidating.

That spirit was everywhere throughout the event. Guests lingered in conversation, connections were made and renewed, and the energy never let up, more like a reunion than a typical gallery event.

Janssen’s formula is deceptively simple: rotate shows monthly, keep the programming fresh, and never lose sight of the artists. As the season winds down, he’s already looking ahead, planning to spend sometime this summer painting at his lake home in the mountains, a change of pace that fuels the creativity he brings back to the gallery each fall.

Nine years in, Janssen Artspace has become more than a gallery, it’s a creative hub. And judging by the energy, it’s only getting stronger.
