Kiki’s, A Taste of Italy in the Heart of La Quinta

Nestled in the heart of La Quinta, a new culinary establishment awaits at 46660 Washington St – Kiki’s La Quinta, where patrons are treated to a delightful fusion of sincere hospitality and cosmopolitan yet rustic charm. Inspired by impeccable dining experiences worldwide, the partners behind Kiki’s strive to bring a metropolitan level of hospitality to the Coachella Valley.

Setting itself apart from typical Italian eateries, Kiki’s La Quinta introduces a unique beverage program that breathes new life into traditional cocktails, infusing them with an unmistakable Italian twist. Crafted with an array of spirits, artisanal amaros, vermouths, and fresh juices, the bar promises an experience that goes beyond the ordinary. The carefully curated wine list showcases predominantly Italian wines, as well as American wines produced by Italians. Complementing this, the menu boasts fresh local produce, house made pastas, and exquisite specialty ingredients imported directly from Italy.

The roster of talent at Kiki’s La Quinta is nothing short of impressive:

Nick Iattoni, Co-Founder: A culinary school graduate, Iattoni honed his skills alongside André Balazs at renowned properties such as Sunset Beach and the Standard Hotels. Notable establishments include the Michelin-starred Breslin Bar and Dining Room, Le Bilboquet in Sag Harbor, and Harlem’s Solomon & Kuff’s.

Jon Butler, Executive Chef: With training in France, Spain, and Denmark, Butler brings a wealth of international culinary expertise. His resume boasts stints at prestigious establishments like République, The Rose Cafe, and Church & State in LA.

Joshua Lucas, Beverage Program Lead: Former bar manager at the award-winning Death&Co’s disco bar, Honeycut, Lucas’s accolades extend to Writer’s Room, Caña rum bar, and The Tarpit. As the curator of the beverage program at the Magic Castle, and a former brand ambassador for Woodford Reserve and Pernod Ricard, Lucas adds a touch of magic to Kiki’s offerings.

Kiki’s provides an approachable yet refined environment. During our visit, we were seated on the attractive patio, with a water fountain enhancing the overall ambiance. The interior decor evoked a casual chic atmosphere.

The Friday night crowd was lively and the restaurant was packed. Standout dishes were the meatball appetizer accompanied with focaccia slices and a great Caesar salad. However the large whole anchovies were a little large for my taste. The Bucatini Cacio e Pepe and Ricotta Gnocchi were pasta perfection, leaving us eager to explore more mouthwatering entrees on future visits. Although the dessert selection was limited during our visit, we look forward to indulging in these treats on our next trip.

The impeccable service, from the waiter to the busboys, contributed to a memorable dining experience. Kiki’s is a passion project for locals Nick Iattoni, Sofia Mastroberti, Allie Baker, and Tony Baker. With Jon Butler and Joshua Lucas at the helm, Kiki’s will undoubtedly be a hit in the Valley, offering a taste of Italy with a touch of California flair.
