Experience the vibrant world of art as over 150 talented artists unlock the doors to their studios for the fourth annual Desert Open Studios tour this weekend. From Desert Hot Springs to Indio, the Coachella Valley will be a canvas showcasing the diverse creativity of local artists.
Lynda Keeler, co-founder of the event, emphasizes the significance of representation across the entire Coachella Valley. Excitingly, this year marks the first participation of instructors from the College of the Desert’s art department, adding a new dimension to the artistic spectrum.
Scheduled from January 26-28, 2024, the Desert Open Studios is a free, self-guided tour spanning the Coachella Valley from 11 am to 4 pm each day. Established in 2021 with 60 artists, the event has now grown to feature nearly 160 artists, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to witness a variety of creative expressions in diverse studio spaces.

Co-founder Anne Bedrick highlights the exclusivity of exploring artists’ workplaces, usually unseen by the public confined to galleries and museums. The event goes beyond a mere tour; it’s an immersive experience into the different studio environments and the array of tools artists employ.
For three days, participating artists will not only unveil their creative processes but also present their artwork for sale, making art accessible to the public in an intimate setting. Desert Open Studios, a volunteer organization, fosters a connection between creators and art enthusiasts, turning this annual event into one of the most eagerly awaited “art crawls” in the country. Founded with the aim of spotlighting the remarkable talent in the valley, the Desert Open Studios continues to be a celebration of art and community.
